In my head, this journal was going to fix things. I imagined myself waking up early, writing morning pages every day, staying on top of my to-do lists, procrastinating less, you know the story.

Being neurodivergent (ADD), I was also very aware that this could just be another short-lived obsession. An expensive notebook, a few intense weeks, and then… nothing.

A year later, I can honestly say: a lot of it did stick. Not perfectly. Not consistently. But the journal is still with me, and I use it daily in one way or another.

Sometimes I write. Sometimes I draw. Sometimes it’s messy or unfinished. Sometimes I collect memories.

But it has become a place I return to, instead of something I feel I fail at.

Lately, I’ve been thinking more about how I journal and why certain things work for me, especially mixing writing with drawing, like neurographic drawing. I’m also working out my ideas like hosting my first journaling retreat, and finding ways to share this practice with others without turning it into another system you have to keep up with.

I’m new to Substack and not entirely sure how long posts are supposed to be, so I’ll leave it here for now and continue in the near future.

Today felt like the right moment to finally activate this profile.
